The World of Vareima is one I have been working on for about 20 years. Is a world filled with magic, and magical creatures. I shall endeavor to detail them here as I work on finishing the fifth novel of the War of the God Shards. Here is the First story in the series: Bakir’s Helm.

RED SPHINX-

Height: Varies with its state of Being.
Length: Varies with its state of Being.
Weight: 500-1000 pounds. More if it has just fed.
Speed: N/A
Diet: Muscle Tissue, Bone, Cartilage.
Risk to Humans: Moderate. To them, Humans are as edible as any other creature.
Location: Warm to Hot climates. They have an affinity for volcanoes.

>DATA:
The Red Sphinx exist in two different states of being. The first is during its Sleep/Digestion Stage. At this point, they resemble nothing more than a dark brown boulder. There is no real difference between it and a boulder, unless one is stupid enough to touch it. At this point, the red Sphinx enters, Stage II of its existence. It has now become an incredibly dangerous creature, virtually invulnerable. No legends or records exist that tell of one of these creatures being destroyed. After all, how easy would it be to kill a rock?
In the second stage in the life of the red Sphinx, it is a highly mobile gelatinous mass that attacks all living creatures on sight. In this form, it has no vulnerable areas, and it can go through any opening no matter the size. It can stretch itself as thin as a man’s forearm to get past any wall or similar obstacle. Its pseudo pods attach themselves instantly to any life form, and quickly liquefies the entire muscular structure of its victim. It then siphons out the liquid and moves on. When sated, it then reverts to its other stage, that of solid rock. Its granite-like mass is indistinguishable from the surrounding rocks. Pieces of it that are chipped off will grow into new creatures. These creatures are very rare, and should be avoided at all costs. No known Magic or weapons has been known to have any effect on the Red Sphinx. This is the World of Vareima, and You have been warned.

To Your Success,

Tom
